Some Common Facts about Denture

Dentures commonly known as false teeth are usually prosthetic devices that are usually constructed for replacing the missing teeth. Most of the conventional ones are removable such as the complete denture or the removable partial ones. If you want to replace some of your teeth then you can go for the partial denture implantation, or else you can also go for the full denture to replace your entire set of teeth. Types of dentures available in the market

The two major categories of dentures available and they are divided based on the position where they would be placed on the maxillary arch or the mandibular arch. Usually the conventional ones are attached to the natural teeth and rest on the gums the implant supported ones are usually attached to the foundation that is fixed into the jawbone by surgery. The common types of dentures are explained below.

  1. Full denture: The ones that replace the entire set of the teeth are termed as full denture. For replacing the upper jaw denture an acrylic colored material is used which is freshly colored and covers the lower surface of the mouth and the gums to allow the false teeth to fit tightly. They are similar for lower mouth as well. Usually before fitting the false teeth the dentists remove all remaining teeth. The jawbone usually takes time to react to the process. Usually it takes quite some time for getting hold of the exact false teeth. Usually the exact shape is required for getting an exact replacement of the entire set of teeth. Finally, the dentist realigns the teeth to fit the jawbone.

  2. Partial denture: Usually it is used to replace some teeth. These can be attached to the natural teeth and uses metal clasps to grip the natural ones. They can be attached to crowns on the natural ones. They can be used to improve the fitting of the partial ones and used with attachments. The implantation of denture will take some time and you need to visit the dental clinics every week during this treatment process. It is better to consult with your dentist and he or she can easily implant the denture in a medicated way.

  3. Implant supported denture: They are commonly attached to the implants in the jawbones that usually extend outwards from the gums. They are usually fitted by surgery which usually requires more than one visit. They are usually firmer and are commonly fixed in the lower jaw. They are commonly fitted in front of the jaw. They are either ball retained, or bar retained. In the bar retained one a thin metal bar is usually attached for fixing the false teeth. The ball retained one contains sockets that commonly fit onto the ball shaped connectors.

Care for denture

Proper care must be taken for the dentures. Partial and removable denture must be taken proper care to keep them free from stains. There are few things that should be considered for keeping the false teeth in proper condition. They must be removed and rinsed after eating. Water must be run over the teeth to remove the loose particles and debris from the teeth. They can be placed over some cloth or towel and you can use a soft toothbrush to clean the tongue, top part of the mouth and the cheeks.
