These systems use panels or collectors for absorbing the energy from sun. The water gets heated when it passes through the collectors. Some heaters also use evacuated tube collectors or flat panel collectors for heating purpose. These tanks are available in numerous sizes ranging from 180-400 liters. Usually the systems have 1-4 solar panels or 10-44 evacuated tubes. The water pressure in these systems is quite high and usually has 5-10 years of warranty.
   

3. Heat pump hot water systems: These systems usually use electricity to move heat from one place to another rather than generating it. In comparison to other heaters these systems consume less power. They extract heat from the environment to heat the water. These systems are generally mounted on the ground and do not have any panels commonly placed outdoors. They are usually available in 150-340 liters. Though they save the heating costs the installation cost is on the higher side.
   

4. Boilers: These are special type of water heaters. They usually distribute the heat uniformly in the hot water which in turn gives up the heat when it passes through the radiators. The cooler water then returns to the boiler and gets re heated. These boilers commonly use heating oil or natural gas as fuel. In steam boilers the steam carries the heat throughout the house after it is heated.

1. The size of the house and the amount of usage expected

2. The required size, capacity and type of hot water system required
