5 Tools Found In The Kit Of All Plumbers

Updated: Sep 5, 2023

The art of plumbing has become more of a commercial profession than a job of a man of the house to do. Although, there are many people, even today who do the plumbing in their house by themselves.

For those people we have found the 5 most basic tools that every plumber must have in their inventory at all times. The five tools are:

1. Tongue and Grove pliers:

Plumbers now use this tool because of the amazing versatility that it brings to the work environment. They have many adjustable positions, the jaws on this tool are also angled which makes it much easier to use and also it has long handles which makes it holding this tool much more conveniently. This is one of the must have tools that every plumber should carry. It is always found in the amazing number of tools that a plumber carries.

2. Basin wrench:

Plumbers use this tool for some of the most basic work that they do. i.e. changing out old faucets. This tool is often used to reach into tight spaces so that the plumbers can essentially tighten the valve or loosen the valve with ease. One of the key features of this wrench is the fact that it self-tightens. It does wonders for the plumber since it has a long handle and hence those tight spots are not hard to reach and also the loosening of any of the valves becomes much easier because of this.

3. Propane torch:

Plumbers use this tool to make their lives much easier when they want to melt some fittings and maybe even some copper pipes. This is a tool that helps the plumber save time since using this tool will be much more effective and faster than the use of lighters or even matches. It is always best not to keep this tool away from the reach of children, since they can misuse this tool and it can cause a lot of problems.

4. Adjustable wrench:

Plumbers use this tool to manage the often-tough hexagon shaped nuts. These nuts are usually found in compression fittings. The jaws of this wrench are of the moving variety and hence anyone using it must be careful so that the jaws don’t just slip off the nut that it is holding on too. These adjustable wrenches can be found in two sizes, which are the six-inch and the ten-inch versions.

5. Plunger:

This tool is one of the most stereotypical tools that the plumbers use and it is usually a big hit among the kids. This tool is used quite often by plumbers to release the blockages that occur quite often in the pipes within any house. While using it, you must seal the toilet or drain and then just use the plunger to suck the clog right out of the drain or toilet. The way that the plunger works is that the plunger sucks out the substance or material that is blocking the drain.

Finally, we must always keep in mind the importance of the safety of the people around us and some of these tools can cause harm to both the user and the unsuspecting bystander. Hence these tools should be used with care, they should be well maintained and most of all, they should be kept in a safe environment away from kids and any other potentially dangerous persons. Plumbing is a very useful skill to have when you are living alone and hence the freedomthat this skill gives to the person who uses is one of the most satisfying things that any man or woman would ever want.
